A great way to unwind after the series of working days preparing for the wedding is to enjoy pre-wedding parties. Pre-wedding parties like a bridal shower is a fun time for the bride-to-be to enjoy her last moment of being a single woman. Bridal showers are traditionally hosted by the maid of honor. Throwing a bridal shower is enough to make a wonderful and memorable gift for the brides-to-be. However, planning for it is not as simple as a-b-c. There are several important things to consider when planning a bridal shower, and should be started as early as possible.
As the hostess, you are responsible of planning all the details for shower party. At some point during the planning process, you also need to ask the bride-to-be for her opinion, about the party theme for example. Having a theme, however, is not mandatory, but it can really help you on dressing up the party. The theme will basically tell you almost everything, from decorations to gifts. When choosing a theme, it is always a great idea to relate your decision to the bride-to-be. There are actually several bridal shower themes to choose from. The theme could be something that reflects her hobbies. For example, if she’s a kitchen queen, then probably a kitchen themed shower is the best suggestion.
Another important consideration is the budget. Planning a bridal shower doesn’t have to extravagant. You don’t need to break your bank over small details. There are some areas where you can trim down the cost of the shower to accommodate other important things. You can make your own shower supplies with DIY kits. Or, instead of hiring a caterer, why not gather other friends and cook homemade menu for the party? Just get creative!
Show off the theme by decorating the venue with matching bridal shower decorations. Decorating the party may vary depending on the venue. For example, if it is at a ballroom hall, then you don’t need to have too much decorations. Popular bridal shower decorations include balloons, banners, candles and ceiling flairs.
For the shower menu, the time of the day will basically tell you what menu will be served, or sometimes the theme. For a simple brunch gathering, you can serve bagels, fresh seasonal fruit, mini danish, scones, breakfast quiche, fresh squeezed OJ, Bloody Marys, Mimosas, coffee in a variety of flavors, assorted teas. But if you want to serve a full meal, salad and a casserole works well and serves many guests. Make sure you select a menu that can be prepared ahead of time because you dont want to be busy in the kitchen when you could be mingling with your guests. Also consider where the guests will be eating. It may be best to serve finger foods, or foods that are bite sized so no cutting is involved.
Lastly, you have to plan bridal shower games, prizes and favors. Play games that can give a big smile to your guests, then provide prizes to the winners. End the party by thanking your guests through giving out bridal shower favors. There are so many party favors available in the market, from simple, elegant to unique bridal shower favorr.
