Toronto’s eighth annual Furnal Equinox convention happened last weekend in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The event brought together much of the Canadian furry community, offering programming supporting their many creative interests, such as the visual arts, writing, costuming, “maker” elements like electronics, and business practices. Founded in 2010, this year the event had the theme “Rock the Fandom”.
Event programming this year supported After The Track Greyhound Adoption, a program “that seeks to rehabilitate and relocate retired racing greyhounds into foster, or permanent homes.” The organization brings dogs up from tracks in the United States, looking to find homes in Ontario.
Well over a hundred attendees brought their fursuits to the “fursuit parade”, walking around the host venue. While only a percentage of people identifying with the furry fandom have fursuits, the convention offered a range of programming about creating or performing in a fursuit, as well as a in-suit dance competition. Wikinews was in attendance during the parade, and shares photographs of select costuming.
